DM&E has been repairing cutter reels for two decades. It has been apparent that improvement in the strength of the upper plate could yield significant improvements in the life of the cutter reel.
Over two years in design and development the Aluminum Center Reel (ACR) is now offered. The upper plate of the cutter reel and the mounting hub have been integrated into a single entity. Cast from aircraft aluminum and heat-treated for maximum strength, the center structure is more than a mounting hub. The center now is an integral component of the reel. The 3x improvement in flex strength is accomplished with a reduction in weight of the reel.
The improved ACR reel design is offered without increasing price.
