The CL-21 is a full-featured crimper. Adjustments are quick and secure for ease of service. All components are designed to provide continuous operation in a production environment.

 The most critical service items in a crimper are the stuffing box and roll alignment. The CL-21 adjusts easily and settings remain secure during operation. The stuffing box itself allows each component to be aligned individually without disturbing other settings. The outer side plate may be removed for inspection of the stuffing box and rolls without disturbing settings on the doctor blades or rolls.

 The CL-21 crimping head is constructed as a unit that contains the rolls and crimping box and may be separated from the base for replacement if minimum downtime is required.

 Pneumatic cylinders provide roll pressure and stuffing box pressure. Pneumatic cheek plate loading provides automatic wear adjustment and variable force control. Automatic cheek plate rotation is standard on all CL-21 crimpers. The roll shafts run in roller and ball bearings and double U-joint couplings connect them to the helical gearbox. Rolls that are 1" wide are configured for liquid circulation. The HTD belt provides quiet, trouble-free power transfer from the variable speed AC motor.

OPTIONS

 Most crimper installations are configured to customer requirments. Some of the options that may be included with the CL-21 crimper are:

• Stuffing box widths from 3/4 to 2 inches. A guideline of 250,000 denier per inch of width is generally used.
• Various cheek plate materials to suit customer preferences.
• Integral pre-steamer.
• Steam (or other gas) injection into the stuffing box.
• Tow line height is available from 33 1/2 inches to 54 inches.
