(1) Dependent on fiber type, denier per filament, speed, and crimps per inch.

Crimping:

Powered by an invester-controlled, energy efficient AC motor, the WA Tow Crimper processes a variety of synthetic fiber tows at speeds up to 400 meters per minute.   The tow band passes through a pair of pneumatically loaded, hardened, stainless steel rolls into a stainless steel stuffing box where the crimp is formed.  Roll pressure is fully adjustable.  Dual tapered roller bearings support each end of the rolls.  Pneumatically loaded cheek plates guide the filaments into the stuffing box.

Stuffing Box:

The WA Crimper utilizes a fixed  doctor blade and a pivoting bottom doctor blade.  Both doctor blades have replaceable blade tips.  The bottom doctor blade is actuated by a diaphragm cylinder and sensitive regulator to precisely control crimp level.

Drive System:

A heavy-duty gearbox transfers power from the motor to the rolls.   The gearbox attaches to the upper roll by a powerful jaw coupling and to the lower roll by a rugged, double universal joint with a sliding spline shaft.

Configuration:

A rectangular-tubing frame provides the stability and support for the crimper head assembly.

Options:

Choose from numerous options to configure the WA Crimper to your precise needs; from steam in the stuffing box to internal roll cooling.  A dancer is available for complete integration into the line.  Call or email for details.

Safety:

Covers and guards are safety interlocked to prevent the operator from incidental contact with the crimper's moving parts.

Power Requirements:

380/460 volts, 3-phase, 50/60 Hz, AC

Weight:

Approximately 1500 lbs.

Warranty:

The WA Crimper is warranted for one year against defects in material and workmanship.  Expendable wear items are excluded.
