UPGRADES AND RETROFITS

 DM&E offers a selection of improvements to both the DM&E cutters and other cutter brands. We have also created several quality upgrades for the WA crimper. Most items can be fitted to existed equipment, and many items can be installed at your location.

 

DM&E Equipment

 DM&E offers upgrades for DM&E cutters. DM&E constantly strives to improve our radial blade cutters. All of these developments may be retrofitted to DM&E cutters already at work. Some of the improvements might also find application with other brands of cutters.

• The Reel Attachment Device facilitates proper installation of the cutter reel.
• DM&E has developed a Cutting Load Indicator to monitor cutting forces while the cutter is in operation
• Our Aluminum Center Reel is the latest development in our continuing effort to improve our product.

 

WA Crimpers

 DM&E is the single source for original equipment parts for the WA Crimper. Our experience with the WA crimper has led to the solution of several problem areas that confront the original design.

• GEARBOX
  The original gearbox progressed through several design changes, each more expensive than the last, without a marked improvement in life or performance. DM&E developed, in conjunction with a major gearbox manufacturer, a permanent solution to the gearbox and shaft coupling.

 The Stage 2 gearbox incorporates high efficiency gears in a housing thermally rated beyond the capacity of the crimper. The coupling between the top roll and the gearbox was completely redesigned, but can still be used with the original upper roll shaft.

 

• PNEUMATIC CHEEK PLATE OPERATION
  The original cheek plate operation was never satisfactory. DM&E developed a pneumatic cheek plate mechanism to replace the spring and clamp device initially fitted. Simple to install and operate, the pneumatic unit is self adjusting can be retrofitted to all WA crimpers.

 

Lummus Radial Blade Cutters

 While it is not possible to equip another make of cutter with the total performance package of the DM&E cutter, some design features have been grafted to other maker's equipment. The tow guide offers significant improvement in tow presentation, and the pneumatic presser roll mechanism captures many of the presser roll features of the DM&E cutter.

• TOW GUIDE
  The DM&E retrofit tow guide offers the essential components of the Series 60 and 90 DM&E cutter tow guides to owners of other cutter brands. Specifically designed to fit the Mk4 and Mk5 cutters, the tow guide offers significant improvement in tow presentation. Adjustable bars allow the tow to be shaped as it approaches the cutter reel. Uniformly presented tow results in maximum cutting efficiency, and minimum cutting defects.

 The entrance guide and the trumpet guide minimize wraps and carefully contain the fiber to the reel. Virtually infinite adjustment assures proper tow presentation.

 The retrofit tow guide has also been fitted to several other cutter makes.Contact DM&E today for an application to suit your equipment.

 

• PRESSER ROLL
  The DM&E Pneumatic Presser Wheel Retrofit makes some of the benefits of the presser wheel mechanism found on all DM&E cutters available to owners of Lummus Mark IV and Mark V cutters.
