Tension Control:
|
|
The tension stand has two rubber-covered rolls between which the fiber band passes. The force with which the rolls are pressed together determines the tension which must be applied to the band to pull it through the rolls. While the top roll shaft is fixed to the stand, the bottom roll is mounted on a carriage which moves up and down. The shafts on which the carriage rides are covered by accordion shields to keep fiber and dirt out of the mechanism. An air cylinder attached to the carriage forces the bottom roll into contact with the top roll.
